Vietnam’s Seafood Sector Kicks Off 2026 with Strong Q1 Growth!
Despite ongoing global economic uncertainties, Vietnam’s dynamic seafood export industry has once again demonstrated its remarkable resilience, posting impressive figures for the first quarter of 2026. This sector continues to be a cornerstone of the nation’s economy, delivering significant value to international markets.
According to the latest report from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Producers and Exporters (VASEP), the first three months of the year saw Vietnam’s seafood exports reach an impressive US$2.64 billion. This represents a robust year-on-year increase of nearly 8 percent, a clear indicator of sustained positive growth and strong demand for Vietnamese aquatic products worldwide.
While the overall Q1 performance is undoubtedly positive and a cause for celebration, VASEP’s analysis also highlights a subtle yet important detail: there were initial signs of slowing momentum observed during March. This nuance suggests that while the industry’s trajectory remains upward, stakeholders will be keeping a close eye on market developments in the coming months.
The strong start to 2026 reaffirms Vietnam’s crucial role in the global seafood supply chain. Even with the slight deceleration noted in March, the consistent growth across the quarter underscores the sector’s adaptability and the high quality of its offerings, positioning Vietnam well for continued success.
