Flipkart, a behemoth in India’s e-commerce landscape, is making strategic moves to bolster its leadership team. The company recently announced the appointment of two highly experienced professionals to key Vice President roles: Somnath Das as VP, Supply Chain, and Digbijay Mishra as VP, Corporate Communications. These appointments underscore Flipkart’s ongoing commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and refining its public narrative as it continues its expansive growth across India’s dynamic commerce ecosystem.

Somnath Das to Lead Supply Chain Excellence

Taking the helm as Vice President, Supply Chain, is Somnath Das. He will be responsible for overseeing supply chain operations for Flipkart’s large business segment, with a keen focus on driving network efficiency and implementing technology-led processes to streamline operations. Das brings over two decades of extensive experience garnered across the consumer goods, retail, and food and beverage sectors. Prior to joining Flipkart, he served as Senior Vice President at Jubilant FoodWorks, where he adeptly managed manufacturing and supply chain operations. His impressive career also includes significant stints at Reliance Retail (Grocery), Nivea India, Marico, and PepsiCo India, showcasing a robust track record in building high-efficiency supply networks.

Expressing his vision, Somnath Das stated, “Flipkart operates at a significant scale, where operational excellence and disciplined execution are essential. I look forward to strengthening network effectiveness and building resilient, technology-enabled supply chain capabilities that support sustained growth while elevating customer experience across India.”

Digbijay Mishra to Head Corporate Communications

The Flipkart Group welcomes Digbijay Mishra as its new Vice President, Corporate Communications. In this crucial role, Mishra will be tasked with leading integrated communications and stakeholder engagement across the entire Flipkart Group. Digbijay brings a unique and valuable blend of media and advisory experience to the table. He previously served as deputy bureau chief (Startups) at The Economic Times and, more recently, founded Ringsight Advisory, a firm where he provided strategic communications advice to founders and investors.

Commenting on his new challenge, Digbijay Mishra remarked, “Flipkart has played a defining role in shaping India’s digital commerce ecosystem. I look forward to working across the Group to build a strong, transparent, and forward-looking narrative that reflects its scale, innovation, and long-term ambition.”

Strategic Appointments for Future Growth

These strategic leadership enhancements are pivotal for Flipkart’s long-term roadmap. Seema Nair, Chief Human Resources Officer, Flipkart, emphasized the importance of these new additions:

“As Flipkart continues to operate at scale across India’s fast-evolving commerce ecosystem, strengthening leadership across both core operational and strategic functions remains central to our long-term roadmap. Somnath’s experience in building high-efficiency supply networks and Digbijay’s understanding of India’s digital economy landscape will help us further institutionalize capabilities and drive sustained growth.”
